The Guidance Department provides academic and career guidance and social support for students and families in a faith-filled environment: course scheduling, grade and attendance monitoring, school/home relationships and collaboration with outside agencies. The Guidance Department arranges on-campus and/or virtual visits at many universities, assistance with college selection, transcripts, and scholarship opportunities.

The staff works with students to develop a four-year plan that meets their educational goals and personal development. The Counselor also facilitates communication between students, parents, and teachers, as needed. The Guidance Department assists students in making informed choices based on career interests and individual aptitudes and abilities. Considerations in college and vocational school selection include cost, size/location, availability of financial aid, and specific course offerings. A reference library is maintained with up-to-date information on colleges and career opportunities.
Students are administered the O*NET Interest Profiler each Fall to explore career interests and how they relate to work in the real-world. Students who wish to complete additional career inventories are welcome to ask for additional assistance with career exploration. Students are also introduced to a career exploration website that provides multiple search options to further explore career path information such as necessary education, anticipated industry growth, salary expectations, and educational programs to help students reach their career goals. We encourage you to explore at My Next Move
The scope of personal counseling encompasses all areas of the student's life including family, friends, teachers and coursework issues. It is our desire that students have the opportunity to achieve their full potential in all areas. Collaboration with outside agencies is available to assist those in need of in-depth or specialized services.

Traditionally, 99 percent of Nouvel graduates enroll directly into college or university upon graduation. As college tuition costs continue to increase, students are encouraged to take advantage of all scholarship opportunities available. The Guidance Department maintains an up-to-date scholarship listing and helps students capitalize on scholarship dollars available.
The class of 2019 was offered more than $2.8 million in college scholarships.
In addition to scholarship opportunities that come through the guidance office, a number of resources allow students and parents to register to receive free information about scholarships and activate a college search.
The Counseling Department suggests students do not pay for scholarship lists. Many local scholarship opportunities become available on or around November 1.
If a student is considering playing competitive athletics at a Division I or II school, he or she must register with the NCAA. Students should be aware that NCAA regulations affect class selection. The Guidance Office can provide specific information.
