The Nouvel Catholic Central curriculum is varied to meet the needs and interests of each student. A total of 26 credits are required for graduation. The requirements include:
Online learning experiences and speech are embedded in curriculum. Additionally, beginning with the Class of 2028, all students will be required to take Biology, Chemistry, and Physics to fulfill their science credit requirements. Please see Parent/Student Handbook for additional Honors requirements.
To graduate from Nouvel, additional requirements must be fulfilled:
Complete at least 100 hours of community service (minimum of 20 at School, 20 at church/parish and 20 in the community). *Pro-rated for students entering after the 9th grade.
Attend scheduled spiritual retreats. Students who are unable to attend their scheduled retreat will be required to attend a comparable retreat with advance approval from the Campus Minister.
Participation in the graduation activities (Baccalaureate Mass, Senior Dinner and Commencement exercises) is only possible for those students who have completed all graduation requirements.
Attendance at ALL graduation activities (including practices for Baccalaureate and Graduation as well as the Senior Dinner) is mandatory for all students.
Dual Enrollment
High school credit may be granted to students who successfully complete a course of instruction offered by an eligible post-secondary institution (i.e. Delta). The following requirements apply to such courses of instruction:
Application and admission to the post-secondary institution are the responsibility of the student with help from the counseling office. Please see Delta's website for more information about the dual-enrollment process.
To receive high school credit for the successful completion of post-secondary institution coursework, the student must obtain prior approval from the high school counselor. (note: Students will not be allowed to take core academic courses that are offered at Nouvel and receive high school credit.)
Credit earned under this policy section shall be based on a "pass" grade.
Computation of high school credit for post-secondary institution coursework will be determined on a case by case basis: (i.e. 3 to 4 semester hours equals 1/2 unit of high school credit.)
Upon validation from the issuing post-secondary institution, the student's credit and grade will be recorded on the student's high school transcript. A student who successfully completes a dual enrollment course may receive credit at both the college and high school level.
The student is responsible to have the post-secondary institution report the student's grade and credit to the high school counselor in a timely fashion.
High school juniors and seniors can obtain practical, hands-on career and technical education, including work-based learning experiences, through the 16 programs offered at the Saginaw Career Complex. Programs ranging from Game, Data Base and Web Design to Medical Careers to Engineering are designed to prepare students for rewarding careers and higher education. At the Saginaw Career Complex, students learn for real life.
