Our Philosophy:

In our ever-changing and increasingly global society, it is not only preferred, but also essential that today’s students embark on the rewarding journey of learning a second language. When students learn a second language, they are exposed to the customs and ways of life of other cultures. In turn they expand their views and perceptions of the world, as well as their own culture. Our goal is to create a comfortable and positive learning environment that encourages and produces life-long learners of Spanish who have the skills and interest to use the language to enrich their lives.

Programs Offered:

7th Grade Curriculum: Our 7th grade Spanish program is considered the first half of Spanish I and is an introduction to the basics of the Spanish language and culture. The course begins with the basics of the language, such as the alphabet and pronunciation, and progresses towards more complex conversation and grammar structures. Grammar concepts studied include definite and indefinite articles, number and adjective agreement, the verb ser, informal and formal structures, regular –AR verbs in the present tense, and the verbs ir, dar, and estar. By the end of the school year, students will possess the basic building blocks for communication and further study in 8th grade.

8th Grade Curriculum: Our 8th grade Spanish program is considered the second half of Spanish I and is a deeper study of Spanish vocabulary and grammar concepts. Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to explore the food, music, traditions, and customs of those who speak Spanish.
